I used jewelry glue for this project because it held better than my fabric glue, which just didn't seem to be up to the challenge of the thick felt. I cut pieces of ribbon and glued them on to the middle heart in the pattern of the Union Jack flag. I made my biggest and smallest hearts the same color and the middle one contrasting a la Jan C. It is extremely thick and sturdy, much thicker than your typical felt sheets.Ĭut felt hearts out in three graduated sizes. I used 100% wool felt – this is the type of felt you use if you are doing needle felting projects. Time is running short so I knew I couldn't embroider a bunch of ornaments in time, but with a bit of felt, some ribbon, a sweet crown embellishment, and some strong glue: presto-changeo, I suddenly have a fleet of lovely heart shaped Union Jack inspired ornaments to adorn my Christmas tree!! Looking at her designs my inspiration struck and I knew I really wanted to have some happy Union Jack inspiration frolicking on my Christmas Tree. I buy her online embroidery designs (dubbed craft kits on her site) and I dream of owning her pillows – especially this British Isles Map cushion. Side note, have you visited her before? If not, prepare to fall in love. This turned out to be a great plan for me because while planning some Christmas crafts I visited one of my all-time favorite British designer's website: Jan Constantine. I kept looking at all my ornaments, and while I love them, I just wasn't “feeling it.” Have you ever had that happen? Rather than push forward, I decided to just move on to other holiday projects and enjoy the tree “as is” for now. We got our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving but it sat plain with just lights on it for many, many days because I just didn't quite have my “vision” yet for the tree this year. ![]()
